    Bottled Water saves us from bacteria!

    How excited was I to find out a couple of weeks ago that for an unknown amount of time our water would be unsafe to drink. That’s right Northamptonshire’s water according to Anglian Water Board has had traces of bacteria found it, therefore we have all been advised to boil our water before consumption, another inconvenience, especially if all you want is a nice cold glass of water. So we lived with this, the immanent threat of bacteria in our water systems all weekend, not a problem as usually all beverages that are consumed over the weekend is wine, and then tea to get rid of the hangover. However Monday morning was when the realization of how annoying not being able to drink tap water sets in. At work the need to stay hydrated is vital to keep concentration and to keep the weekend hangover at bay. However what do we do if we can’t drink that tap water, do we continuously boil the kettle then have to wait for the water to cool again, to supply the WHOLE office? We had to find another solution to our problem. We realized that the only thing to conquer or thirst (and headaches) is to invest in some bottled water. The office cleared quickly as everyone left to go to the supermarket to purchase their water, only to find out that everyone else had thought of the same thing, therefore there was hardly any left on our arrival. EVERYONE was our buying bottled water, the only thing that removed the inconvenience from the situation. So clutching the few bottles we could snatch in the supermarket, with a hefty dent in our pockets we made our way back to the office. Also anxiety crept up when washing the dishes, is it safe, do we run the risk of transferring the bacteria onto the utensils and then into our mouths? What about brushing our teeth, the water is only in our mouths shortly but is it enough to get ill from the bugs? Quickly the being safe with water became annoying, and everyone now had the fear planted firmly in their minds of using the water if and when we were told it was safe; how did we know the water was safe? The following week we came into the office to find a lovely new watercooler that had not been there before. We were met by the cool, clean, fresh mineral water, not only was it safe but it was convenient and better for us as it was fresh. No more trips to fight over the last bottle of water for us! We now had water there whenever we wanted it, always cold and refreshing and best of all bacteria free! Now the water has been cleared as safe to drink, however we always still go for our watercooler water, because not only it nicer and more refreshing to drink. Also it now meant we had a new venue for the girls to gossip!
